COLUMBIA– First Chance for Children (FC4C), an organization that prepares children up to 5-years-old for kindergarten, held an open house Thursday to spread awareness for early childhood practices.The group provides supplies and resources for roughly 250 families across 8 mid-Missouri counties. "All but one of our programs are income-eligible," said FC4C Co-Director Kasey Schaumburg. "Anyone is welcome to join our programming. Parenting is hard for everybody regardless of income or demographics."FC4C's 'Lend & Learn Toy Library' is one of their most popular programs, where qualifying families can check out a toy that challenges the child's cognitive, language and motor development skills.
